Coralie Chevallier, member of the Executive Board of Institut Curie

Coralie Chevallier

Coralie Chevallier has been a member of the Executive Board of Institut Curie since May 25, 2024. In accordance with Article 4.2 of the statutes of the institute, she has been appointed by the Supervisory Board for a period of 6 years.

Holder of a thesis at the interface between psychiatry and cognitive sciences obtained in 2009 at the University of Lyon and University College London (UK), Coralie Chevallier has been co-director of the Evolution and Social Cognition Research Group at the Ecole Normale Supérieure-PSL since 2014, and Inserm Research Director since 2022. She was also Vice President in charge of training at PSL University for 3 years, until the end of 2023.

In these roles, she led a training policy based on three pillars: openness to talent from all backgrounds, training through research from bachelor's to doctorate, and interdisciplinarity to meet new challenges, at the forefront of which are digital technology, sustainable development goals, and health.

Her work focuses on the understanding of human behavior. Her research has been focused on finding out how motivation affects the mechanisms of social cognition in the general population and in those affected by autism. She now focuses her efforts on the role of social cognition in collective behaviors, and she has demonstrated that stress has an impact on social decisions - not only on the willingness to cooperate and social trust, but also on health and education-related decisions. In the spirit of translational research, she also dedicates her time to learn how this knowledge can be mobilized to improve the design and implementation of public policies.

She has contributed to several expert and research missions in collaboration with the High Authority for Health, the National Institute of Public Service, the Interministerial Directorate for Public Transformation, and even with National Education.
