The “Institut Curie” is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It comprises a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness. The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient. The  AI position will be held in the Basto team, at the UMR144 located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.

Laboratoire - Service

The candidate will work in the Biology of Centrosomes and Genetic Instability group led by Renata BASTO (Institut Curie, Paris 5, https://institut-curie.org/team/basto). The team has extensive expertise in the field of cell division  and studies the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic and chromosomal instability. Various model systems are used in the laby, including mouse models, Drosophila, and cultured human cells, providing a complementary range of approaches and expertise.

Missions

The candidate will work with the team members on various cell biology projects related to genetic instability to uncover the principles governing cell proliferation during development and to determine how genetic instability contributes to the early stages of disease.

We are looking for an AI interested in questions related to chromosome segregation and polyploidy in both healthy and tumor contexts. The candidate will work with cultured cell lines, Drosophila, and mouse models.
