The Molecular Mechanism of Chromosome Dynamics group headed by Daniele Fachinetti (https://institut-curie.org/team/fachinetti) is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher or research scientist with a strong background and interest in bioinformatics approaches to study repetitive sequences.
The Fachinetti laboratory studies the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control the faithful transmission of our genetic material. Specifically, we are interested in centromeres, key chromosomal loci required for cell division. Our research program utilizes complex and unique interdisciplinary approaches that integrate molecular and cell biology, state-of-the-art imaging, cytogenetic analysis, locus-specific proteomic approaches, biochemistry, bioinformatic pipelines and biophysics on DNA/chromatin to study pathways that control genome stability in human cells, from DNA replication to mitosis.
The selected candidates will be involved in several aspects of our research program such as “the causes and consequences of centromere aberrations in cancer and aging” and “the impact of epigenetic program in controlling genome stability”.
The successful applicant should have expertise in genomics, epigenomics and/or transcriptomics analysis, basic programming (e.g. shell scripting, R and Python), and Illumina or Oxford Nanopore Technologies. Prior experience on the study of repetitive sequences is a plus but not necessary.
The Institut Curie, situated in the center of Paris, is one of the world’s leading institutions in the fields of cell biology, soft matter physics, developmental biology, genetics and cancer biology (consisting of about 85 groups and 900 people). It represents an excellent and international environment to perform multidisciplinary research supported by a strong network of technological platforms.
All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities.
