Institut Curie consists of a cancer hospital and a world-class multidisciplinary Research Center combining research in cell biology, genetics, epigenetics, immunology, soft matter physics, organic and medicinal chemistry. It includes over 3,300 researchers, physicians, clinicians, technicians and administrative staff members working on three sites: Paris, Orsay and Saint-Cloud. Researchers at Institut Curie have access to cutting-edge core-facilities, including advanced imaging technologies, high throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, and proteomics as well as access to large clinical databases and sample collections through the hospital. The Institute is engaged in international partnerships, including the EU-Life alliance, the LifeTime initiative and the network Epigene3Sys.

Context

  • Research unit – UMR3664

A group leader position has opened in the “Nuclear Dynamics” unit (UMR3664 / CNRS) on the research campus in central Paris, which is associated with PSL University and Sorbonne University. The unit is part of the laboratory of excellence (LabEx) DEEP which supports research in “Development, Epigenesis, Epigenetics and Lifetime potential.” The five research groups of the unit investigate the mechanisms underlying the stability and the plasticity of genetic and epigenetic information in normal or pathological contexts, during development and throughout evolution. Using complementary and interdisciplinary approaches, they explore the functional organization of the genome at different scales: from the molecule to the cell and up to the whole organism.

 

  • Candidate Profile

We welcome applications from candidates using computational and/or modeling approaches with interest in topics relevant to epigenetics, genome biology, nuclear organization, development, and evolution.  Selection of the candidates will be based on the quality of their scientific record and project, their strong collaborative spirit and capacity to interface with other teams in the unit, in the Labex DEEP and in the Research Center of the institute.

The call is open to both junior and senior candidates. The newly recruited group will be allocated a space adapted for 6 to 8 people (depending on seniority), including lab space if needed, and will benefit from a starting package from the Curie Research Center, complemented with support from the Labex DEEP. Successful candidates should meet criteria to compete for national and international funding, and either already hold a position or be eligible and for French institutional research positions (CNRS or University).

Contract information

  • Type of contract: Fixed-term contract.
  • Starting date:  in 2023
  • Duration: up to 2 years in the meantime of application for a permanent position to CNRS or University
  • Working time: full time
  • Remuneration: according to the current grids
