The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.

 

Laboratory

The position is open as a collaboration between the group of Cécile Alanio (T Cell Inspection, U932, Team Amigorena, https://science.institut-curie.org/research/integrated-biology/u932-immunity-and-cancer/stroma-and-immunity/), the lab of Joshua Waterfall (Integrative Functional Genomics of Cancer, https://institut-curie.org/team/waterfall), and the clinical team lead by Nicolas Girard (Thoracic Tumors, https://institut-curie.org/personne/nicolas-girard). The successful candidate will work in a strong bioinformatics environment in close collaboration with wet-lab biologists and clinicians.

 

The project

Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are rare intra thoracic malignancies and there is a need for new therapeutic approaches as well as a deeper understanding of tumor development and progression.  Due to their location in the thymus and thus intimate contact with developing T cells, TETs interact strongly with the immune system as reflected in the frequent occurrence of autoimmune disorders such as myasthenia gravis (MG) and often extreme reactions to immune checkpoint inhibitors.

We seek a computational scientist interested in onco-immunology to join a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, immunologists and cancer genomics experts applying cutting-edge multi-omics approaches to characterize TET development and immune interactions.  This includes genomic and molecular characterization (whole exome sequencing, RNAseq, chromatin profiling) of clinically annotated patient tumor samples and PDX as well as scRNA/TCRseq of the immune microenvironment and characterization of tumor neoantigens.

 

Candidate Profile

 

  • Training and Skills required

We expect a candidate with a PhD in computational genomics or an M2 with equivalent research experience. The position is opened immediately and funded for 36 months.  Salary is according to the candidate experiment.

 

  • Abilities
    • Experience in management and manipulation of genome-scale data (WES, RNAseq, scRNAseq)
    • Experience in use of bioinformatics and bio-statistics tools (R, python)
    • Skill to work on large computing clusters 
    • Skill to work independently and in collaboration with biologists
    • Presentation and communication of results
    • Good knowledge of English both spoken and written
    • Strong background in computational genomics applied to either oncology or immunology, preferably both
