We are looking for a motivated and productive post-doctoral fellow in bioinformatics to join our ATIP-Avenir team Replication Program and Genome Instability (https://institut-curie.org/team/chen) at the Institut Curie, Paris, France. The team focuses on using cutting-edge high-throughput genomic approaches and genome-wide data analyses to study the spatio-temporal replication program of the human genome and how replication stress impacts on genome stability in normal and cancer cells, in population as well as at single molecule/cell level.

  • The project

DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) occur accidentally such as during replication stress, or are self-inflicted such as during meiosis, where they produce chiasmata, ensuring accurate homolog segregation. DSB are a threat to genome integrity and therefore must be faithfully repaired, in order to avoid aneuploidy, genetic diseases or cancer. Our ANR project “SMART” aims to shed new light on the fine mechanisms of one type of DSB repair, homologous recombination, by using innovative approaches combining high-throughput single-molecule sequencing and imaging. The project will be performed in close collaboration between our genome analysis team, the bioinformatics/sequencing/genomics platforms of Institut Curie, and the teams of V. Borde (I. Curie, Paris) and G. Legube (LBCMCP, Toulouse) the worldwide experimental biologist experts in DNA recombination and DNA repair.

Candidate Profile

Training and Skills required

  • Training: Applicant should hold, or in the process of completing, a PhD degree in bioinformatics or related areas
  • Scientific skills: should have solid computational/statistical skills and a strong interest in genome biology
  • Pofessionnal experience desirable: experience with 3rd generation sequencing or high-throughput imaging analysis is a plus
  • Language skills: very good English level and communication skills.

Abiliites

  • Ability to work independently, managerial abilities, aptitude for working in a team
  • The candidate should be highly motivated, curious and enthusiastic to work in a collaborative team.

Contract information

  • Type of contract: Fixed-term contract.
