Institut Curie has a remarkable wealth of data, collected within a secure, regulated framework, reflecting the gradual digitization of 25 years of cancer patient care. The aim of Institut Curie is to put this first-rate data at the service of cancer research and innovation, to improve the care of tomorrow's patients.

The use of healthcare data is crucial to developing new strategies for medical progress and patient care. Earlier diagnosis, personalized therapeutic decisions, targeting new treatment avenues: data is destined to be a vector of acceleration for research and innovation, at every stage of patient care.

Institut Curie's Health Data Warehouse1 (HDW) - which complies with the requirements of the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (French Data Protection Authority) [CNIL] guidelines governing the use of health data in terms of regulatory, technical and security aspects - brings together different types of data:

  • Structured clinical data

  • Medical reports

  • Medical imaging

  • Digitized anatomopathology slides

  • Omics data2.

The aim of Institut Curie is to use this leading-edge oncology data for cancer research, to improve patient care.

Our services

Thanks to a dedicated Data Department, Institut Curie supports academic and industrial players in the healthcare sector in the development of innovative projects, in several areas:

  • Support for research projects and clinical trials

  • Identification of patient cohorts

  • Mapping of available data (clinical, genomic, medical imaging and biological samples)

  • Making data available in accordance with current regulations.

In this way, Institut Curie provides its academic and industrial partners with cutting-edge health data tools:

  • ConSoRe3, a powerful search engine that traces the history of disease by structuring the medical data of thousands of patients monitored in CLCCs, and on an international scale.

  • REDCap, an application that simplifies database construction and the data collection process.

  • Medexprim, a platform for exploring medical images (CT scans, MRIs, PET scans, etc.), pseudonymizing them and extracting them for research projects.

  • cBioPortal, a tool for mapping and visualizing genomic data.

1Institut Curie's Health Data Warehouse is scheduled to go into official operation in 2025.

2“Omics" data capture information on biological processes taking place at different scales of the cell (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics).

3Created by the UNICANCER federation alongside four pilot centers: Institut Curie, Centre Georges-François Leclerc, Centre Léon Bérard, Institut Paoli-Calmettes.
