Support for start-ups
Institut Curie's incubation program has generated 32 start-ups since 2002, providing close, trust-based support for researchers, doctors and caregivers at Institut Curie.
The incubation program helps Institut Curie employees' innovative projects to come to fruition by providing services focused on the initial stages of structuring the future company, from detection to creation and follow-up.
This provides young entrepreneurs with an ecosystem that enables them to avoid some of the main reasons for start-up failure (lack of market, financing difficulties, team failure, business model problems, etc.).
What is “Curie” incubation?
- A 360° approach integrating intellectual property management, internal support for maturation, a dynamic search for partnerships and funding, and start-up incubation.
- Personalized support for researchers and doctors by a dedicated team, giving them access to a wide network of partners (investment funds, business angels, potential CEOs, etc.), throughout the company creation process.
- A mentoring system with experts (“serial” entrepreneurs, business angels or former corporates), enabling incubated projects to benefit from key skills: business, strategic, scientific, regulatory or commercial.
- Equity investment in companies
- A quality approach: a project is not created if it is not sufficiently mature and financed.

The StartInnov Fund by Curie
Institut Curie has created the StartInnov Fund, the first fund designed to put philanthropy at the service of start-up creation. The aim is to speed up the emergence of start-ups from research, to accelerate innovation and fight cancer more effectively.
