International

The high level of expertise of Institut Curie researchers, doctors and caregivers extends beyond national borders. This is reflected in scientific collaborations, publications in prestigious reviews and participation in international congresses, as well as in the treatment of foreign patients and the training of PhD students and healthcare professionals from different countries.

The Research Center's international roots

In addition to the 80 nationalities represented in its teams, the Research Center's global positioning is reflected in a number of ways:

  • Its international collaborations, mobilizing partners in over 130 countries and accounting for more than half of its scientific output.
  • The 500 scientific publications appearing each year in the most prestigious international reviews are the fruit of collaboration between Institut Curie researchers and doctors with experts from all over the world.
  • Its teams' success in international and European calls for tenders such as the ERC, Horizon Europe and MSCA grants.
  • The participation of its researchers in international congresses to present their work.
Institut Curie is a member of several leading networks, such as EU-Life, which stimulates excellence in the life sciences in Europe by mobilizing 15 European research institutes; or Core For Life, an alliance of technological platforms from eight European life sciences institutes.

Institutional partnerships have been signed with research institutes to encourage the development of projects with associated funding and exchanges between research teams. Examples include the NCI-NIH in Bethesda (USA) and the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot (Israel)

The Hospital Group’s international reach

In the field of care and treatment, Institut Curie's scope of action is not limited to France. It welcomes patients and caregivers from every continent, and provides training and support abroad to develop the cancer healthcare offering.
To meet requests from all over the world and provide the most appropriate response, Institut Curie has set up an International Patients Office. Every year, this structure enables the Hospital Group's teams to welcome around 400 foreign patients. It provides a personalized care and after-care program, supported by a bilingual online follow-up platform and an interpreting service.

Excellence in knowledge communication

The range of courses on offer has expanded considerably to meet the need for cutting-edge teaching, in line with the latest scientific discoveries and state-of-the-art knowledge in the clinical field. This is reflected in the growing number of international courses offered each year.
The Research Center is playing an active part in advanced international training programs for young researchers, such as the ITNs (International Training Networks). Over 500 doctoral and post-doctoral students join Institut Curie research teams every year. They also benefit from privileged contact with internationally-renowned researchers on sabbaticals as part of the Mayent-Rothschild program.
The Hospital Group receives almost 200 applications from foreign doctors every year, and organizes training courses for over a thousand healthcare professionals of all nationalities.
