Pain management at Institut Curie

Pain doctor, anesthesiologist, emergency physician, neurosurgeon, radiologist, nurse trained in palliative care, dietitian, physiotherapist, psychologist, social worker ... At Institut Curie, many skills work together to help fight against any form of pain.
On a cancer patient's journey, pain is a frequent symptom with many origins - the tumor itself, certain examinations such as punctures or biopsies, or certain treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy). Pain can occur at any time of the disease, including during the period of remission.
It is important to control the level of pain that may occur. It can have repercussions on a patient's personal, family, professional, and social life. Do not hesitate to tell your doctor or healthcare staff about your pain. The majority of pain can be managed by your doctor or referring physician. But pain sometimes persists despite primary treatments. The team in charge of your pathology can then refer you to a doctor who specializes in pain management. Their role will be to assess the pain syndrome, find the causes, and determine the most effective ways to relieve it.
