Patient Experience Committee
At Institut Curie, partnership with patients constitutes a key issue desired by patients and hospital professionals (caregivers and non-caregivers) to strengthen the quality, relevance and effectiveness of care, health pathways, and life with an illness in a context of societal and health development.
The patient experience involves all the interactions and experiences an individual has during their medical journey. This encompasses their emotions, their doubts, the factors that alleviate their fears, the disparity in the patient-caregiver relationship, as well as the need for a responsive organization and innovative technologies. The patient, in addition to their skills acquired outside of the illness, acquires knowledge related to their illness, their course of care, their treatments, and their method for “living with it”.
Within Institut Curie, the Patient Experience Committee comprises several thematic groups for discussion and proposals where members contribute their expertise to promote the continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care.
Their roles entail:
- Sharing opinions on observations and projects.
- Making recommendations based on personal experiences on different topics
- Suggesting avenues for improvement based on their unique perspective on health.
The committee strives to enhance the perceptions of patients by collecting and analyzing their feedback to better understand their experiences and expectations in order to adjust the offered medical services accordingly. The presence of patient partners within the hospital contributes to the establishment of a more balanced and collaborative relationship between patients and caregivers, encouraging active participation of patients in decisions concerning their health.
