Presentation

Prof. Anne Vincent-Salomon, PR, MD, PhD, HDR, is a Professor at Université Paris Sciences et Lettres. Since 2015, she has headed the Diagnostic and Theranostic Medicine Division (PMDT) at the Institut Curie, where she has been practicing as a pathologist since 1993. Since 2023, she has also served as Director of the Women’s Cancer Institute (IHU).

The PMDT brings together the disciplines of pathology, genetics, immunology, and pharmacology. It is responsible for the diagnosis of cancers and genetic predispositions using tumor (biopsies, surgical specimens) and blood samples. The division is COFRAC-accredited according to the ISO 15189 standard. It also includes the BIOHUB-CRB Biological Resource Center, which has systematically preserved tumor samples for over 30 years. This center has been certified NF EN ISO 20387 since 2018 and is authorized for sample transfer in compliance with French and European regulations. A true driving force of translational research, the PMDT provides and characterizes samples for phenotypic, molecular omics, and stromal analyses in close collaboration with research teams.

A recognized expert in breast pathology, Anne Vincent-Salomon was among the first to demonstrate that the molecular heterogeneity of breast carcinomas is already present at the in situ stage. She also identified the diversity of triple-negative breast cancers, including rare low-grade subtypes, thereby contributing to a more refined histological and prognostic classification of breast cancer. Her work also focuses on cancer-associated fibroblasts, prognostic biomarkers, artificial intelligence, and digital pathology. She is the author of over 460 scientific publications and holds several innovative patents.

Together with Dr. Derksen (Utrecht University) and Prof. Desmedt (Université de Louvain), she co-founded the European Lobular Breast Cancer Consortium (ELBCC), dedicated to invasive lobular breast cancer: https://www.elbcc.org.

Committed to prevention and research advocacy, she chairs the Scientific Committee of the Ruban Rose Association. She is also an active member and elected president of several international scientific societies and advisory boards of cancer research centers.

Her distinctions include Officer of the National Order of Merit (2025), the MAELYS Prize from the French Foundation for Medical Research (2024), and the Grand Prize for Breast Cancer Research (Ruban Rose) (2012).
