Presentation

Prof. Fabrice Lecuru is a Professor of Medicine and Hospital Practitioner in the Department of Breast, Reconstructive, and Gynecological Surgery at the Institut Curie since 2020. His clinical activity focuses on the management of patients with gynecological cancers.

He studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Necker–Enfants Malades, then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lille II University from 1986 to 1991.

In 1991, he became Chef de Clinique Assistant at Boucicaut Hospital (Université Paris V), where he served until 1996, when he was appointed University Hospital Practitioner.

He also holds a PhD from Université Paris Descartes (1997) and has been a Professor at that university since 1998.

From 2017 to 2019, he headed the Department of Gynecologic and Breast Oncologic Surgery at the Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou. In 2020, he joined the Institut Curie within the Department of Breast, Reconstructive, and Gynecological Surgery, where he continues his work in gynecologic oncologic surgery and complex surgical procedures.

Alongside his clinical activity, he leads several research projects, including the SENTICOL I and SENTICOL III studies, which assess sentinel lymph node biopsy in early-stage cervical cancers, and the establishment of a clinical database dedicated to low-grade serous ovarian cancers as part of the French National Network for Rare Gynecologic Malignant Tumors.

Since 2024, he has been a core member of the Women’s Cancer Institute (IHU Institut des Cancers des Femmes) at the Institut Curie, serving as Medical Director for Gynecology within its Executive Committee and as a member of the working group dedicated to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in surgery and interventional radiology. In this context, he is co-leader of the HoLOGRAM project, which aims to understand the cellular and molecular heterogeneity of low-grade serous ovarian cancers in order to identify new therapeutic targets.
