échange entre patients et médecins

Focused on improving public health, educating patients and informing healthcare professionals, the Support Care Department is your partner in the development of human and social sciences applied to cancer.

Pain management, psychological support, adapted nutrition and physical activity, social accompaniment... oncology support care is designed to help each patient live better with his or her disease and treatments, according to individual needs. Today, supportive care is a fully integrated part of cancer management, and is recognized for its benefits in terms of patient well-being and even chances of recovery.

Supportive Care

Institut Curie has a dedicated supportive care department - the Interdisciplinary Department of Support Care for Oncology (DISSPO) - which brings together healthcare professionals so that they can work hand in hand to offer patients an optimal and multidisciplinary care.

Institut Curie's supportive care department gathers multidisciplinary specialists - psycho-oncologists, onco-geriatricians, pain specialists, hypnotherapists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, social workers, socio-aestheticians - that work to improve life quality for both patients and their families throughout the illness, in addition to the actual anti-cancer treatment. In the accompaniment and management of patients with cancer, four types of support care are essential: pain management, dietary management, psychological support and social support.

Institut Curie also conducts numerous research programs aimed at improving the effectiveness of treatments and patient comfort.
