Elemental Legacies, Ferroptosis and Ferrology

•Dr. Fudi Wang is a world-leading scholar in cell-resolved metal biology. He founded Ferrology, Zincology and Cuprology, establishing landmark frameworks for FerroLipid, FerroPlasticity and non-lethal ferroptotic signalling. His pioneering discoveries redefine core paradigms of mammalian metal homeostasis and decipher ferroptosis-mediated multi-organ pathogenesis, with seminal reviews in flagship Nature Reviews journals.

•He has published over 270 articles in premier journals including Cell and Nature, with over 30 cover features, more than 30,000 citations and an h-index of 87. A Clarivate‑Elsevier Highly Cited Researcher and Stanford top 0.3‰ global scientist, he has earned distinguished international and national awards. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and National Ten-Thousand Talents Program, alongside other top-tier national academic honors. He serves as Chief Scientist of China’s National Key R&D Program and Principal Investigator of six major NSFC grants.

•He serves on the Board of Directors of the International BioIron Society and was Founder-President of the Bio-Trace Element Society of China. His editorial appointments include Founding Editor-in-Chief of Element, Deputy Editor of Research, and Advisory Board Member of Cell Metabolism. He is an Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences New Zealand.
