The Hospital Group's strategic projects
The Institut Curie Hospital Group brings together 2,300 healthcare professionals to serve its 55,000 annual patients. Thanks to the Curie model and its research-care continuum, as well as dedicated investments, every patient benefits from cutting-edge equipment and the latest innovations in oncology for personalized multidisciplinary care. In recognition of its excellence, Institut Curie was awarded “High Quality of Care” from the Haute Autorité de Santé (French National Authority for Health française) (HAS) in 2022.
Curie expertise, the strength of a committed team
Physicians, caregivers, patients and partners of the Institut Curie Hospital Group are all united around these common goals:
- strengthen the institute's internationally recognized fields of expertise in human, technical and organizational terms,
- encourage interdisciplinarity and harness the Hospital Group teams' dynamism to develop new areas of excellence,
- take graduated action in all areas of prevention, attract and retain healthcare professionals, while supporting them in new ways of delivering care and research,
- structure care pathways and enable patients to play an increasingly active role in their care.
Radiotherapy expertise, a worldwide benchmark
Institut Curie is the historic birthplace of radiotherapy, which has always been one of its research priorities. Today, it boasts the most comprehensive radiotherapy technical platform in Europe, offering the latest cutting-edge techniques, notably protontherapy.
Today, radiation medicine is at a major technological turning point, which is why, in 2023, a €56 million multi-year program has been launched to step up support for research programs on breakthrough innovations in radiotherapy for all Institut Curie sites (Paris, Saint-Cloud and Orsay). The aim is to offer increasingly personalized, better-tolerated and more effective treatments. A crucial objective, particularly for fragile patients such as children and the elderly.
Prevention: for personalized monitoring
Institut Curie is focusing on detection and prevention at every stage of the illness, in the short and longer term: genetic monitoring of people at increased risk of cancer, prevention of the medical and societal side-effects of treatment, prevention of relapse, prevention of after-effects. Alongside various players, it aims to open a House of Prevention, open to anyone concerned by the risk of developing cancer. The aim is to offer graduated treatment tailored to personal and environmental risk factors.
In addition, the deployment of the Institute of Women Cancers program is helping to better prevent and detect female cancers, and the Institut du Thorax Curie-Montsouris is offering a screening program for people at risk of lung cancer.
