Curie Research Center

Institut Curie is a major player in cancer research and care. It comprises a hospital and a research center with more than 1,000 staff members and strong international representation.

The objective of the Institut Curie Research Center is to develop fundamental research and leverage the resulting knowledge to improve cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, within a continuum from basic research to innovation for patient benefit.

Laboratory – Department

The Nikon Imaging Center at Institut Curie (https://nimce.institut-curie.org/) is a cutting-edge photonic imaging facility integrated within the PICT (Cell and Tissue Imaging Platform). Established through a strategic partnership between Nikon, CNRS, and Institut Curie, it provides access to advanced microscopy technologies (confocal, super-resolution, fast imaging).

The engineer will be the operational manager of the Nikon Imaging Center in Paris, under the responsibility of the local coordinator of the PICT imaging platform, and in direct interaction with Nikon Healthcare France & Europe teams. He/she will also be responsible for other advanced microscopes within the PICT platform at Institut Curie.

Responsibilities

-         Ensure advanced scientific and technological monitoring in optical microscopy, in partnership with Nikon Healthcare and their application engineers in France and abroad

-         Design, select, and adapt photonic microscopy techniques according to users’ scientific projects

-         Train researchers, students, and collaborators in the use of microscopy systems and ensure technology transfer

-         Ensure proper operation of microscopy instruments

-         Develop strategies (automated scripts, macros, and potentially programming in various languages) for automated acquisition and quantitative/statistical image analysis

-         Master IT tools and dedicated software (strong knowledge of Windows, NIS software, FIJI, and 3D reconstruction software)

-         Implement a quality management approach within the platform and ensure metrological monitoring of equipment for ISO 9001:2015 NF X50-900 certification

-         Organize follow-up meetings; write reports, procedures, and experimental/study documentation



Specific Features of the Position

-         Use of Class 3B lasers (systems classified as Class 1 in normal operation due to safety measures)

-         Possible travel and training sessions abroad

-         Possible variability in working hours

Remote work is not well suited to this position

Education and Experience

-         Desired degree: PhD

-         Desired experience: at least 2 years in a photonic imaging facility

Skills and Competencies

-         Biology: applied methodology (advanced knowledge)

-         Design of experimental setups (expert level)

-        Development of scientific and technological expertise

-        English proficiency: B2 to C1 (CEFR)

-        Scientific writing (expert level)

-        Knowledge of health and safety regulations

-        Proficiency in specialized software

-        Teamwork skills

-        Teaching and training abilities

Contract Information

Working time: fixed annual working days

Salary: according to current salary scales
