The Curie Institute Research Center
The Institut Curie is a major player in research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
The Pediatric Translational Oncology Research Team (Dr. Schleiermacher) within INSERM Unit U1330 (CONCERT, Director: Olivier Ayrault), develops innovative approaches to analyze biomarkers derived from peripheral samples (circulating tumor DNA, RNA, proteins). This research relies on large cohorts of patients with high-risk pediatric cancers to investigate mechanisms of oncogenesis, treatment resistance, and metastatic dissemination.
We are seeking a Research Engineer for a position with a strong experimental focus involving routine production of NGS libraries and standard sequencing data analysis. The candidate will contribute to data interpretation in close collaboration with the bioinformaticians in the team.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of novel technologies based on peripheral samples (blood, bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid) with a focus on circulating free DNA and other molecular biomarkers. The position is embedded in a multidisciplinary environment combining high-throughput sequencing, molecular and cellular biology and translational research applications.
Main responsibilities
· Preparation of NGS libraries (DNA/RNA) from peripheral samples (blood, bone marrow, CSF) including circulating free DNA (cfDNA).
· Development, implementation and optimization of biomolecule analysis methods and detection of genetic alterations using NGS approaches (WES/WGS, RNA-seq).
· Transfer, validation and application of methods to pediatric patient cohorts.
· Production and management of sample batches with rigorous traceability.
· Close collaboration with the sequencing platform (ICGex) and bioinformaticians for data monitoring and interpretation.
· Contribution to the synthesis and presentation of results.
· Contribution to continuous improvement of protocols and analytical performance
· PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
· Experience in NGS library preparation and use of sequencing platforms (e.g., Illumina).
· Expertise in molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA) and quality control.
· Experience in routine NGS data production using complex biological samples.
· Understanding of NGS data formats (FASTQ, BAM) and ability to interact effectively with bioinformaticians.
· Strong experimental rigor, organizational skills and ability to handle large sample volumes.
· Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities.
