Research - Paris

Presentation

Caio VAZ RIMOLI is a biomolecular physicist (field: optical biophysics) who recently (2024) obtained a tenured position as a research engineer (INSERM) to work at the Institut Curie in Paris. As a member of the newly established Chemical Biology of Cancer (CBC) unit, he is affiliated with two teams: (1) the SAIRPICO team, focused on computational biology (INRIA/Rennes & Institut Curie/Paris, led by Dr. Charles Kervrann); and (2) the Endocytic Trafficking and Intracellular Delivery team, focused on cell biology (Institut Curie/Paris, led by Dr. Ludger Johannes). He previously completed a postdoc at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (LKB) and the Institut de Biologie de l'ENS (IBENS) at École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris. He holds a Ph.D. in biophysics from the Institut Fresnel (Marseille, France) and an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in biomolecular physics from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. Dr. Rimoli specializes in developing and applying cutting-edge optical methods to study biological systems and biomimetic models. His expertise includes data processing and statistical analysis of biological images, nonlinear spectra, and time-resolved spectra. His current research integrates fluorescence super-resolution microscopy with AI-driven computational analysis to elucidate biomolecular organization in cells.  For more information, check his Biophysical Imaging homepage.
