Research on sarcomas
The advantage of an expert center such as Institut Curie is to allow patients to integrate clinical trials, to access the latest therapeutic innovations, and to benefit from the multidisciplinary approach of its team that is dedicated to the fight against sarcomas. In particular, the iInstitute has made a significant contribution to the definition of care standards at the European level. The resources deployed at Institut Curie also make it possible to have study materials for research (radiography, biopsy, samples, etc.). Multidisciplinary collaborations within Institut Curie are indeed a major asset for research, such as membership of the French Sarcoma Group.
This highly applied research focuses on:
- The origin of sarcomas;
- Management strategies, in particular in terms of therapeutic de-escalation;
- The development of new treatments.
It is important to note that Institut Curie is particularly active in research on abdominal sarcomas and that Institut Curie "Sarcomas" team also offers its expertise on desmoid tumors - tumors that appear benign under the microscope, but can be locally aggressive.
