The Research Center and the Hospital Group of Institut Curie
The Research Center


Internationally renowned, the Research Center's mission is to improve our understanding of living organisms. It brings together 13 Joint Reseatch Units (CNRS / Inserm / universities), 86 scientific teams, 19 technological platforms as well as a translational research department. The Director of the Research Center is appointed by the Executive Board, after approval by the French Minister for Research and Higher Education, Institut Curie's Supervisory Board and International Scientific Advisory Board, and the Research Center's Scientific Commission, for a 5-year term. He reports directly to the Executive Board and attends its meetings.
Since September 1st 2024, the Director of the Research Center is Dr. Claire Rougeulle.

The Hospital Group

With its high-tech equipment, the Hospital Group treats all types of cancer, including the rarest. It is a reference center for the treatment of breast cancer, ophthalmological cancer, thoracic cancer, sarcoma and pediatric cancer. The Director of the Hospital Group is appointed by the Executive Board, after consultation with the French Minister of Health and Prevention, the CME (Commission médicale d'établissement), the Supervisory Board and the International Scientific Advisory Board of Institut Curie, and the National Federation of Cancer Centers Unicancer, for a 5-year term. He reports directly to the Executive Board and attends its meetings.
Since September 1, 2021, Prof. Steven Le Gouill has taken over as Director of the Hospital Group at Institut Curie.

The Head Office


Working closely with teams from the Hospital Group and the Research Center, the Head Office departments ensure consistency and cross-functional coordination of Institut Curie’s activities and support the implementation of its Curie 2030 strategic plan. In this capacity, they also help ensure consistency within the foundation.
Reporting to Institut Curie Executive Board and comprising approximately 200 employees, the Head Office departments are co-led by Amaury Martin, Isabelle Benoist, and Laurent Fauroux, who respectively head the Resources and Innovation Department, the Support Functions Department, and the Communication Strategies and Institutional Relations Department.
