Bilan Fête de la science 2026 : un nouveau record à l'Institut Curie !

Stepping into the shoes of a scientist, conducting experiments, and uncovering the mysteries of life: Fête de la science has once again sparked curiosity at Institut Curie! On October 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10, nearly 3,400 visitors joined this year's celebration, setting a new attendance record.

What if the best way to understand research was to experience it firsthand? This year, visitors were invited to take an active role in scientific discovery through 17 interactive, hands-on workshops. From observing cells under a microscope and investigating the mechanisms of cancer to decoding hidden messages in DNA and exploring how radiation is used in medicine, these activities offered a glimpse into the wide range of research conducted at Institut Curie.

“What makes Fête de la science so special is that it gives everyone a chance to experience research in a different way. Whether you're passionate about science or simply curious, young or old, you can experiment, ask any question, and talk directly with scientists. That's what making research accessible is all about: inspiring everyone to understand it and make it their own,” says Dre Claire Rougeulle, Director of Institut Curie’s Research Center.

Among the participants, 920 students from 37 classes took part in special days dedicated to school groups.

The Musée Curie also contributed to this year's event with a program combining the history of science and scientific discovery. Workshops and talks on measuring radioactivity, games exploring the world of atoms, and opportunities to meet scientists brought some of Marie and Pierre Curie's historic experiments back to life.

The event's success was made possible by the dedication of 170 volunteers from 47 research teams (across 11 research units), 4 technology platforms, and various departments at Institut Curie, with the active involvement of the Research Center Director's Office Team and the PEPR Cell-ID.

A big thank you to everyone who shared their passion and enthusiasm, brought science to life for the public, and helped make this year's event such a success!
