Data Scientist Analysis of cancer data "Young Women" in the SNDS (M/F)
- Research Center
The “Institut Curie” is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
The post is a full-time position within Unit U932 Immunity and Cancer (Institut Curie and Inserm) and within the Department of Translational Research, in the Treatment Response and Tumour Residue team (RT2Lab: https://curie.fr/groupe/reponse-au-traitement-et-residu-tumoral-rt2lab#tab-autres-projets ). This team carries out numerous research projects on clinical cohorts and medico-administrative databases (such as the SNDS), providing technical support and methodological, biostatistical and epidemiological expertise.
The aim of the project is to study how cancer treatment affects the life courses of young women in terms of fertility, pregnancy during and after cancer, and contraception. These studies will be carried out on a very large scale, on the entire French population of young women with breast cancer and gynaecological cancers, using real-life data from the National Health Data System (SNDS), which covers virtually all health data for the French population. This will enable recommendations to be made for adapting treatments and care pathways for young women, and research guidelines to be defined.
Missions
Description of the activities
Using data from the SNDS, construct patient cohorts and covariates of interest in order to deduce the most efficient care trajectories for young patients.
- Construction of SNDS cohorts by type of cancer (identifying a set of patients aged under 40 and treated for breast cancer or gynaecological cancer over a given period, using SNDS data hosted on the Health Data Hub platform).
- Construction of covariates of interest (age, type and dates of treatment received, pregnancies before and after cancer, breast cancer subtypes, etc.).
- Carrying out descriptive and predictive analyses of therapeutic trajectories (toxicities, adverse events) and care pathways (emergency consultations, treatment delays, hospitalisation)
Training and experience required
- Level and qualifications required: 5 years' higher education/engineering degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent, with a specialisation in the challenges of processing massive data (Big Data).
- Associated knowledge: patient pathways according to pathologies, hospital world (structures, processes) and healthcare professions (including data research), ability to read scientific literature and contribute to scientific articles.
Skills required
- Python and SQL development skills
- Skills in database analysis
- Statistics skills
- Ability to communicate with different types of profiles (practitioners, researchers, statisticians, etc.)
- Autonomy, flexibility and responsibility
- Team spirit and willingness to take part in a collective adventure
- Ability to listen, results-oriented and quality-oriented
