Poirier team (https://institut-curie.org/team/poirier)

The Innate Immunity in Physiology and Cancer team is part of the Immunity and Cancer Unit (INSERM U932) at Institut Curie. Our primary objective is to uncover and characterize novel immune defense mechanisms in mammals, with a particular emphasis on innate immunity. Our current research focuses on two main areas:

1)      Deciphering the protective roles of the RNA interference pathway in immune regulation and tumor suppression.

2)      Identifying evolutionarily conserved immune proteins shared between bacteria and humans, which may reveal ancient and fundamental mechanisms of host defense.

Building on these insights, we engineer innovative anticancer immunotherapies in close collaboration with translational researchers and clinicians at Hôpital Curie. The Poirier team is currently supported by an ERC Starting Grant, along with additional national and international funding sources.

Project

Our recent work has uncovered novel immune defense mechanisms in mammals (see Cury et al. and Bonhomme, Vaysset et al.). We now aim to elucidate the molecular underpinnings of these protective pathways using a combination of cellular and molecular biology approaches. The recruited scientist will actively contribute to this collaborative effort by conducting experiments in close partnership with a PhD student and postdoctoral researchers within the team. The recruited candidate will have the following responsibilities:

1)      Leading a research project.

2)      Analyzing experimental results.

3)      Presenting research findings.

4)      Contributing to the organization of the laboratory and the Unit.

5)      Conducting literature reviews.
