Research Engineer Position (Bioinformatician) NGS Data Analysis in Pediatric Oncology (F/M)
- Research Center
The Curie Institute Research Center
The Institut Curie is a major player in research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
The RTOP team, led by Dr Gudrun Schleiermacher at Institut Curie (Paris), is seeking to recruit a highly qualified Research Engineer (Bioinformatician) with expertise in NGS-based analyses in pediatric oncology and rare tumors.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in oncology research or translational cancer genomics and strong motivation to contribute to national and international pediatric oncology studies. The position focuses on the comprehensive molecular characterization of high-risk pediatric and rare cancers.
The Research Engineer will contribute to the analysis, integration, and interpretation of complex NGS datasets generated primarily from patient-derived samples (blood, plasma, and tumor tissues).
Â
The selected candidate will join a dynamic, international, and multidisciplinary team and will work in close collaboration with biologists, clinicians and bioinformaticians, contributing to the development, optimization, and implementation of robust analytical and bioinformatics workflows.
Research project:
The project aims to advance the understanding of oncogenesis mechanisms and tumor progression in high-risk pediatric and rare cancers, through the molecular analysis of patient-derived samples.
The work focuses on the identification of genetic alterations associated with tumor progression and treatment resistance, primarily through the analysis of liquid biopsies (circulating tumor DNA) and integrates additional molecular layers, including epigenetic profiling.
The Research Engineer will work in close collaboration with members of the research team, contributing to data generation, analysis and interpretation using standardized and validated analytical and bioinformatics pipelines.
Â
Main Missions and Responsibilities:
·      Contribution to the integration and analysis of multi-omics datasets derived from patient samples.
·      Participation in the development, optimization, and application of new analytical approaches for liquid biopsy.
·      Support for the implementation, maintenance, and documentation of analytical and bioinformatics workflows.
·      Technological and bibliographic monitoring in pediatric oncology, NGS technologies and liquid biopsy methodologies.
·      Contribution to data interpretation, reporting and scientific dissemination, including participation in manuscript preparation and scientific communications, as appropriate.
·      Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Oncology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields
·      Strong background in molecular biology and/or translational research with solid quantitative data analysis skills
·      Knowledge of major public genomic and transcriptomic resources (e.g., TCGA, GTEx, Human Cell Atlas) is an asset
·      Practical experience with data analysis tools and scripting (e.g., Python, R)
·      Familiarity with standard NGS workflows and data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF)
·      Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary and international research environment with strong attention to data quality and reproducibility
