Institut Curie is a major player in cancer research and the fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a research center with more than 1000 employees with a strong international representation.

The objective of the Institut Curie Research Center is to develop fundamental research and use the knowledge generated to improve the diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutics of cancers within the continuum between fundamental research and innovation for the benefit of patients.

As part of the development of the scientific program, the Direction of Institut Curie Research Center wishes to integrate a scientific project manager (M/F) into its team to develop the integration of sex and gender in research.  He/she is responsible for promoting, supporting and structuring this approach in research projects and teaching. He/she acts in close collaboration with the direction of the Research Center, the scientific community (units, research teams, technological platforms) as well as the community of physician-scientists.

Missions Description of activities

Reporting to the Research Center Direction, the main missions of the scientific project manager will be to:

Initiate the process of integrating sex and gender into Institut Curie's research and teaching:

·       Identifying good practices (benchmarking)

·       To draw up a map of what is being done at the Research Center.

·       Implement actions to interpret existing data.

·       Develop incentive actions, in particular through the Medical-Scientific Programme.

·       Establish an action plan for the next 5 years.

·       Develop the sex and gender dimension in research within the Gender Equality and Diversity Plan (GEDIP), in collaboration with the GEDIP coordinator.

Supporting research projects:

·       Identify projects for which these aspects are relevant.

·       Advise project leaders on the consideration of sex and gender in the design, methodology, analysis and interpretation of data.

·       Participate in the development of national and European funding files (e.g. Horizon Europe, ANR).

·       Coordinate or co-write deliverables related to these themes.

Raising awareness and training:

·       Design and lead workshops/training courses for researchers, physician-researchers, doctoral students and support staff.

·       Create educational tools and methodological guides.

Monitor and follow-up:

·       Contribute to monitoring funders' requirements (e.g. European Commission policy on the gender dimension) in collaboration with the Research Center Grant Office or the Institutional Grant Office.

·       Follow international scientific advances on the integration of sex and gender in various disciplinary fields (health, AI, environment, etc.).

Coordinate, lead and communicate:

·       Create and lead an internal network of "sex and gender" referents or ambassadors.

·       Participate in national or international working groups on the integration of sex and gender in research.

Evaluate and report:

·       Propose monitoring and impact indicators (dashboard, etc.).

·       Write reports and activity reports for the Research Center Direction.

These tasks are not exhaustive and may be supplemented by one-off missions according to the needs of the service.

Education and experience

-        Doctorate or Master 2 in Science, with a specialization or strong appetite for gender studies or gender epistemology.

-        Experience in conducting or supporting scientific projects.

-        Knowledge of sex/gender requirements of public funders (an asset).

-        Experience in facilitating training or networks is preferred.

Skills and qualities required

-        Strong scientific culture and knowledge of sex and gender issues in research.

-        Writing, analytical and popularization skills.

-        Ability to work in project mode, in a team and independently.

-        Fluency in scientific English.

-        Proficiency in office automation and project management tools.

-        Interpersonal skills and negotiation skills.

Remuneration: according to the scales in force
