Lung cancer research
Institut Curie strives to ensure that patients benefit from innovative research throughout their treatment process: treatments, studies and clinical trials are intimately linked. One of the institute's major research challenges is to identify resistance mechanisms and predict the sensitivity of each patient to treatment. Several avenues are being explored to this end:Â
- Production of microscopic culture chips, in which the tumor microenvironment is recreated to study resistance mechanisms and response to immunotherapies.Â
- The use of artificial intelligence to predict response to immunotherapy based on image analysis of bronchial cancer patientsÂ
- Analysis of immune cells inside tumors, in lymph nodes and in each patient's blood, to identify the specifics of the immune response and provide the best possible supportÂ
At the same time, the institute's researchers are pursuing their efforts to improve care and existing treatments, for example by identifying tumor-specific genetic mutations and designing appropriate targeted therapies; studying the combination of targeted therapies with each other or with immunotherapy, or chemotherapy and immunotherapy to improve response to treatment for certain tumors; developing therapeutic vaccines to help the patient's immune system react to the tumor…
