Ovarian cancer research
As a referral center for the management of women's cancers, Institut Curie is strongly committed to research to fight ovarian cancer. Amongother things, the iInstitute identified several molecular subtypes of ovarian cancer. It also participates in translational research protocols at the cutting edge of basic research in order to understand the mechanisms at the origin of cancer and clinical research, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerance of treatments in patients.
Â
Institut Curie works in particular on:
- Research into predisposition factors for ovarian cancer.
- Characterization of the mechanisms responsible for ovarian tumors;
- Implementation of new surgical strategies;
- Use of artificial intelligence to help interpret pathology analyzes;
- Molecular characterization of the tumors with high-throughput technologies to better understand their mechanisms. Institut Curie platform is also at the forefront in terms of characterization;
- Monitoring of the disease with liquid blood biopsy;
- Development of even more targeted therapies;
- Research in immunotherapy;
- Development of genomic signatures and DNA repair defects to predict response to certain treatments;
- Study of the role of tumor microenvironments in these cancers (on immune cells and fibroblasts in particular).
