PAUL MARCHANDO

I completed my PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley in 2024. I joined the Bassereau group in a joint postdoctoral position with Christophe Lamaze in June 2025 where I am working to reconstitute caveolae, which are small compartments abundant on the plasma membrane of many metazoan cells that are implicated in many disease pathologies. I am using pure components in concert with micropipette aspiration of giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) and optical tweezing to reconstitute caveolae and characterize their biophysical and curvature-sensitive proteins.
