Uveal melanoma
Supportive care for uveal melanoma
In addition to medical treatments for uveal melanoma, Institut Curie offers supportive care as part of a comprehensive approach to patient care: psychological and social support, rehabilitation, nutritional support, pain management, adapted physical activity, etc.
Institut Curie is also coordinating a trial designed to evaluate the patient management process combined with supportive care from the very start of metastases treatment, even in the absence of specific symptoms: Early together. The aim is to improve patient care and quality of life. Patients are invited to fill in a questionnaire to measure their appreciation of this joint care. A day of meetings and exchanges between patients, doctors and researchers has been organized every year since 2018, in collaboration with SiRIC Curie (Site de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer). It's an opportunity for clinicians and researchers to provide information on the disease (treatments, follow-up, genetic aspects...), present their research work, past and upcoming clinical trials, and answer questions from patients and relatives.
These events take place at Institut Curie and are broadcast online.
