Digestive cancers

Symptoms that reveal digestive cancers
Some symptoms are shared and are not specific to digestive cancers: unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, involuntary weight loss. Other signs point immediately to digestive cancer:
- Abdominal pain, significant and lasting modification of transit (diarrhea; constipation; alternating diarrhea/constipation); presence of digested red or black blood (we refer to melena here) in the stool.
- Nausea, food vomiting, sometimes bloody (hematemesis); melena for stomach cancers.
- Difficulty passing food, especially solid food (or dysphagia); food blockages; bloody vomiting (hematemesis); melena for esophageal cancers.
- Jaundice, associated with a discoloration of the stool and a brown coloration of the urine; abdominal pain for cancers of the pancreas or biliary tract.
