The hosting structure
The Curie Institute Research Center
The “Institut Curie” is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
Job description
Laboratory
Institut Curie, CNRS UMR 3244 – team Valérie Borde: Chromosome Dynamics and Recombination

Missions
Our team Chromosome Dynamics and Recombination investigates the mechanisms that repair programmed and accidental DNA double-strand breaks (DSB) in order to maintain genome stability and that are often disregulated in cancers. We combine yeast genetics, mammalian cell culture, proteomic and genomic approaches to decipher the fine molecular mechanisms of homologous recombination during meiosis or somatic growth.
Our team is seeking a motivated Assistant Engineer (AI) or Study Engineer (IE) in Biology to contribute to a project investigating the study of DSB repair in mammalian cells by advanced genome sequencing, using an innovative way to target DSB at specific sites. For this, the recruited IE will develop the novel CRISPR editing approach that we intend to use in different wildtype and mutant backgrounds.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintenance of several cell lines.
- Performing electroporation experiments and molecular assays (including CRISPR technology) to induce double-strand breaks.
- Analyze the outcome of these experiments by imaging and molecular biology such as ChIPseq assays and library preparation. Bioinformatic analyses will be performed with a researcher in the lab.
- Collaborating closely with researchers to analyze experimental data and contribute to the advancement of the project.
Candidate Profile
Training and experience required
- Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree (MSc) in molecular and cellular biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture (mandatory). Experience with CRISPR editing is strongly recommended.
- Solid background in cellular and molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-qPCR, library preparation…).
Skills required
- Good organizational skills, ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Rigor, motivation, and enthusiasm for research.
- Fluency in English
All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities
