Team Leader
Presentation
Céline Vallot is a Research Director at CNRS and head of the Dynamics of Epigenetic Alterations in Cancer (DEpiC) group. Together with her team, they investigate mechanisms of tumor evolution, including how cancer cells adapt to treatments. Specializing in biotechnology, the team develops cutting-edge, high-resolution cancer mapping methods—so-called "single-cell" approaches. Using these technologies, they capture the evolutionary processes of breast tumors during early tumor initiation and in response to cancer treatment in both patients and mouse models.
She established her team at Institut Curie in 2017, bringing together biologists, data analysts, and statisticians in a multidisciplinary group of 12. In 2018, she co-founded the Single-Cell Platform at Institut Curie, enabling single-cell analysis across spatial and temporal scales (DNA, RNA, epigenomes, proteins). The team has been awarded several fundings including an ERC Starting Grant in 2020, an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2024, and a Chair of Excellence.
In 2020, Céline co-founded the start-up One Biosciences, which brings single-cell technologies to patients using AI. The company offers high-resolution diagnostic tests to help select the most effective anti-cancer treatments. Following a Series A funding round in July 2025, One Biosciences now employs over 20 people and collaborates with leading hospitals, including Institut Curie, Gustave Roussy, Centre Léon Bérard, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
