JOHANNA GERSTENECKER

I am pursuing a master’s degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Freiburg in Germany and had the opportunity to come to Institute Curie for an extended research internship.

My project focuses on the diffusion dynamics of the multidrug resistance ABC transporter BmrA in respect to its conformation and the surrounding membrane curvature. Combining advanced optical methods with biochemical approaches I will investigate the interplay of membrane mechanics and protein diffusion.
