The multi-scale characterization approach of the IMPACT team aligns with the systems medicine ambition pursued by the IRIS unit.
Our project, mainly focused on urothelial carcinomas combines innovative preclinical models with multi-omic studies of tumor tissues. It aims for an in-depth characterization of poor-prognosis tumors, taking into account the interactions between tumor cells and those of the microenvironment to explain cellular plasticity and treatment resistance, and to test new therapeutic targets.
To improve prognostic stratification of patients, artificial intelligence approaches applied to ex vivo microscopic imaging allow us to better account for intra-tumoral heterogeneity, which affects progression, and to identify predictive biomarkers.
